"Day One"--Lets. Do. This.

Hi! I'm glad you stopped by. Today is officially my Day One of my new lifestyle. I say new lifestyle because that's what it really is. A "diet" is temporary and most people eventually end up gaining all (or even more) of the weight they lost. If you want to make changes to your body and health, they have to be permanent.

Today I weighed myself and took my starting measurements.
Here they are:
Weight: 181.0
Neck: 13.75
Upper Left Arm: 12.25
Upper Right Arm: 12.5
Chest: 40
Diaphragm: 34
Waist: 32
Abdomen: 44.5
Upper Right Thigh: 26
Upper Left Thigh: 26
Left Calf:  14.5
Right Calf: 14.5
Upper Knee (right): 17
Upper Knee (left): 17

Obviously I am not exactly where I want to be with my body...so I know the journey won't be easy but it will be so worth it. I can't wait to see my results at my 30 day mark.

Today I did Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred Level 1. I had previewed it yesterday to see what the workout was like. It looked pretty easy so I knew I could do it. When I actually did it today, I felt challenged. It wasn't like overwhelming or impossible. It was a good feeling--a feeling like "yeah this is hard but I am able to push through". It was a 20 minute workout and I was sweating at the end. I think that it was an effective workout and something I can manage to do 6 days a week.

I am planning on doing the 30 day shred 6 days a week until I reach 30 days. I plan on taking one day off a week--Thursdays.
Today is also day one of the Isagenix 9-Day Deep Cleanse. Today is a "cleanse day". This means no eating any meals. I know it sounds unhealthy but it is a way to cleanse the body of toxins and impurities and prepare the body for good health. You can read more about the products here and also buy the products through the website. Read about the cleanse for life product HERE.

I am really excited for this journey to becoming fit, healthy & happy. Thanks for reading :)

Day "0" My Story

Day "0"
For many years I have been back and forth between eating healthy and exercising regularly to just being plain out lazy. A lot of this has been due to having to focus most of my time on school and getting exceptional grades. I wanted to be accepted into graduate school for speech-language pathology. This program has become very competitive and it's very hard to be accepted without perfect GRE scores and a perfect GPA.

I have been accepted to Texas State University and I am so grateful! However, I am so unhappy with how I have let my body get to this point. I'm not obese, dying, sick or really "unhealthy" but I am so UNHAPPY with how I look and feel. I have known that I needed to make some major lifestyle changes & I am starting NOW.

This summer is the last summer before I start graduate school in the fall. I will be overloaded with papers, reading, exams and clinic/class M-F 8am-5pm. I wanted to spend my summer getting in shape and at least having a good start to losing this weight. Plus, I wanted to be able to go shopping to buy professional dress clothes and be able to shop a few sizes smaller....

Well, it didn't really happen that way. I have been struggling staying committed to eating healthy everyday and following a consistent workout plan. I did for about a month and honestly only lost 3 pounds. I was DEVASTATED. I know you can't just lose weight overnight and that it takes time for our bodies to change. But I was expecting to lose 2 pounds a week at least with the changes I had made in my diet and workout.

I move to Texas in 2 weeks. I know it's not enough time to reach my goal weight but I have decided I need to start NOW. There's no more giving up or looking back which is why I have decided to start a blog. I want to be held accountable and hopefully inspire others along the way.

Here is my ideal plan for workouts and meal plans. This is not a DIET. It's a lifestyle change that I HAVE to make NOW!

I am going to start with using the Isagenix Deep Cleansing System to rid my body of toxins and get a headstart on my weight loss. You can read more about the products here.

This is a 9-day cleanse. You have 2 cleanse days, then 7 shake days, then 2 cleanse days. On average, people lose between 7-18 pounds depending on individual factors.

After this 9-day cleanse, I will follow Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30-Meal Plan.
This is based on around a 1300 calorie diet with very balanced meals.

Along with these meal plans, I am going to start out doing Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred.
After I successfully complete the 30 Day Shred, I will probably choose another DVD workout. I really like her workouts because they are very short but intense. With being in graduate school full-time, I can't spend 2 hours at the gym. It's very unrealistic.

That's basically my overall plan for now! We will see how things go...I may change some things up along the way depending on how everything is going.

Tomorrow morning, I will be posting my starting weight and measurements. I will post updates on Day 1, Day 3, Day 7, Day 10, Day 20 and Day 30!

Thanks for reading and feel free to leave any comments, questions etc!

xoxo
